Himaya

Engraved line drawing of Himaya (working sensor prototype): our 3D model of the engine on the bench. Moving the pointer over the drawing, or the Show in colour button, reveals the true-colour model.

Give it a spin. Scrolling turns it too.

Stage 4 of 4: Prototype — Working sensor prototype

Our 3D model of the engine on the bench.

The idea & the why

A sensor-equipped turbine model and local dashboard: a test bed for listening to acoustic, rotational and vibration signals around engine distress.

The problem

Spotting engine distress early starts with listening to the engine. Acoustic, rotational and vibration signals need a physical test bed where sensing and data capture come together.

Who it’s for

Engineering teams working on machine monitoring and predictive maintenance.

The thinking behind it

A printed turbine model carries a microphone, an optical rotation sensor and a vibration switch, wired to an Arduino UNO Q. A local dashboard brings the readings together.

The result

A working sensor bench that won Best Innovative Hack at INSPIRE, and the foundation for automatic fault detection.

How it’s built

Every part below is read from the model file. Pick a group to pull its parts out of the assembly.

Himaya · Award

Best Innovative Hack.

Himaya won Best Innovative Hack at INSPIRE.

We modelled the trophy in 3D from the original. Move over the drawing to reveal its gold finish.
